Greetings Tucker HS Parents, 

Please see the following updates and reminders for this week:

  • 13.5 Week Grade Reports will be posted on Infinite Campus this Wednesday for all students. Please monitor your child's grades and attendance as we enter these last weeks of the semester
  • Make up yearbook pictures will be taken on Tuesday and Thursday of this week for students in grades 9th-11th . This is for any student that has not yet taken a picture yet as this will also be the last opportunity to take a picture for the yearbook or for a student id
  • This is the last week of school before we release for the Thanksgiving holiday, there is no school/class next week

Please see the following updates and reminders for this week:

  • We are in the closing weeks of the semester, please ensure you assist us in monitoring your child's grades and attendance in all classes
  • Parents, students are not permitted to leave campus during the school day. Students found leaving campus without proper check-out/clearance will receive disciplinary consequences 
  • Credit Recovery- Credit recovery needs to be completed by November 17th . Students must be at 100% by midnight. Please talk to your child about their current progress and grade. 
  • Tuesday, November 8th- Reminder that on Tuesday, November 8th, students have an independent learning day. This is a professional development day for our staff. 
  • AM Drop Off- Parents please stop dropping your student off when the light is green in the turning lane. Please turn into the car pool lane and drive up the parking deck ramp to drop your student off to ensure safety for all of our students. Also,  wait to drop your child off on the side closest to the school. We do not want to have the students cross the lanes between cars due to safety concerns.

  • Students will not be able to attend school/class tomorrow with any form of a Halloween costume worn
  • Attendance Update-- Chronic tardiness is when students are consistently late to class and consistently being late to class can have dramatic results on a student’s future education and career. Similarly, students who leave school early miss out on valuable instructional time. 
    • In order to address our concern with students being consistently late to first period or the first block of the day, a tardy table system has been instituted here at Tucker High School.  
    • Beginning October 31, 2022, the following consequences will be implemented to direct our efforts and attention to students who are consistently tardy to first period or the first block of the day.

  • Class attendance is essential for maximum academic performance. Students are expected to be in each class on time so those with excessive tardies and absences will receive consequences and parents will be notified. Our data indicates an increase of tardies during first and fifth periods with lower academic performance for this past grading period.

  • The 9 week grades are posted, please monitor this and your student's attendance in the Parent Portal on Infinite Campus 
  • Senior Parents- please review the message previously sent for specific 12th grade information and dates 
  • This week is Homecoming Week:
    • The Homecoming Court was announced on Friday afternoon for each grade-level 
    • The pep rally and Homecoming football game (with halftime coronation) are on Thursday
    • Friday is the parade (beginning at 2:45pm on Main St) and the Dance (beginning at 7:00pm in the Tucker HS gym). 
      • Parents and the Tucker community are welcome to watch and enjoy the parade at any location on Main St.; please also know that dismissal and parent pick up with be altered somewhat due to the LaVista Rd entrance being blocked off for the parade (more details are forthcoming). 
      • Parents are not allowed into the dance 
      • Please see the information on the Homecoming Dance here; tickets are on sale now during all student lunches
    • Homecoming Shirts are also on sale now this week and will be delivered on Wednesday. Please see information here to preorder a shirt
    • Due to Homecoming Festivities, Tuesday and Wednesday will be on a block schedule rather than the traditional days

  • School and all classes resume on normal schedule tomorrow (Tuesday, 10/11)
  • Student 9-week grades will be posted this week. Please continue to monitor your child’s grades and attendance in the parent portal in Infinite Campus
  • Underclassman (grades 9-11) Yearbook Photos will be held on Tuesday (October 11th) & Thursday (October 13th) between 8:20am-3:20pm in the auditorium
  • The PSAT will be held on Wednesday (10/12) 
  • The Title I Annual meeting will be held virtually on Thursday (10/13) at 6:00pm (a link and all other information will be posted on the school website).  
  • The Homecoming football game will be on Thursday, October 20th and the Homecoming parade and dance will be on Friday, October 21st. The dance will be from 7:00pm -10:00pm in the school gym. Students will vote on Homecoming court tomorrow and the dance tickets will also go on sale this week for $20.00.

  • Due to Fall Break, there is no school/classes on tomorrow (Friday, 10/7) or Monday (10/10). Classes will resume on Tuesday (10/11).
  • For the Varsity football game tonight vs Chamblee HS, security shared that there will be no bags allowed in the game for any/all spectators
  • Homecoming is on October 20th and 21st. More detailed information on planned activities will be shared in this weekend's email update

  • Fall Break- Fall break for students will be on Friday, October 7th and Monday, October 10th. Classes will resume on Tuesday, October 11th.
  • Credit Recovery- There will not be credit recovery on Thursday, October 6th due to fall break. Transportation should be available for credit recovery starting October 13th.
  • Senior Parents- Please review the previous email sent out this week regarding senior dues and senior events for the year. You can visit the THS webstore to pay for senior dues.

  • Parent/Teacher conferences- will be on Wednesday September 28th from 3:30-5:30PM. If your child is having some trouble in a class, please see the THS website to schedule a conference.
  • College Visits- College reps are coming in weekly to visit Tucker High School and visit with our students. Visits will be held in the cafeteria during lunch. 
  • Credit Recovery- Credit recovery started this week. Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-5:30PM. Students can not miss more than 2 days or they will be withdrawn from the course. A student/parent contract was sent home with your student on Tuesday. Please contact your child's counselor if you have any questions.

  • Dual Enrollment Informational Meeting-  On Tuesday, September 20th, counselors will host a Dual Enrollment and Underclassman informational meeting at 6:00PM in the auditorium. Please come and join us. 
  • PSAT- please see all of the attached documents in preparation for this assessment:  PSAT Parent Letter, PSAT Infographic, and PSAT Updates 
  • Blood Drive- The National Honor Society and JROTC is proud to sponsor our next blood drive with the American Red Cross on September 22, 2022. 
    • An estimated 38 percent of Americans are eligible to give blood or platelets, but of those, less than 10 percent actually donate each year. If you are healthy and eligible, please come out to donate. Most donations take about an hour, so book your appointment, roll up your sleeve and become a part of the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross.

    • Remember: Eat and drink a lot of water. Bring your ID/permit/Infinite Campus print out to identify your picture, name, and birthdate. The rapid pass will be completed the day of the drive.

Good Morning Parents,

Just a reminder that Curriculum Night will take place tonight. The Title I and 9th grade informational meeting will begin at 5:30pm tonight in the auditorium. Parents and students can begin meeting teachers in their classrooms beginning at 6:00pm. we will not have any bells on so you can just stop in to meet and greet teachers (however this is not a time for a parent conference). Parent conferences will be on September 28th from 3:30-5:30PM 

Credit Recovery Information- If your child has failed a class with a 50%-69%, they are eligible to take credit recovery classes starting on September 20th. Students must attend class every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-5:30PM or they will be withdrawn from the class. Classes will end the week before Thanksgiving break. Registration closes on September 14th at 11:59PM.

Please the following information for this week:

  • Senior Class Parent Meeting—Tuesday (8/30) at 6:00pm in the Auditorium
  • Parent Portal Access- Please ensure you are monitoring your child’s grades and attendance in the portal, if access is needed please call the front office (678-874-3711). As we enter into this fourth week of school there are are updated grades and attendance information available. 
  • Student Tardies- All students should be at school by 8:00am to avoid being marked tardy. Students also have five minutes to arrive at each class to avoid being marked tardy.
  • Chromebooks—distribution will continue on Wednesday of this week for students that have a completed form.
  • Dress Code—Please ensure your child is appropriately dressed for school. For example, students should have no hats, hoods, or complete face/head coverings worn inside; no spandex/biker shorts worn; no pajamas; and no half tops showing mid-drift

  • School begins at 8:00am and students will report to their first period class this week rather than homeroom. Tardies will begin to be calculated this week, students must be on time to school/class as our instructional rituals and routines begin this week.  
  • We will continue to have safety drills this week during the school day
  • Dress Code- students must be dressed appropriately for school: no hats/hood worn, no tank tops or cut-off shirts, no spandex or short shorts
