  • Please continue to monitor your student's grades and attendance in the Parent section of Infinite Campus each week 
  • No students should be dropped off at school before 7:25am during the week
  • Next Tuesday, November 2nd, school is closed fo a Teacher Workday

  • Please remember students must report to school by 8:00am each day for 1st period and to avoid a tardy. Also, any/all students parking on campus must have a valid parking pass. 
  • The Counseling Department is having meetings on Tuesday, 10/19 for our students at every level. 
    • Seniors are invited to a live FAFSA demonstration by Ms. Beavers at 6:00pm. Flyer 
    • Athletes are invited to a NCAA presentation at 8pm, with a Q&A following the informational session. Flyer 
    • All Students interested in Dual Enrollment next year are invited to a Dual Enrollment informational presentation at 6:00pm: Flyer

Fall Break- is scheduled this week, October 7th-11th. School will be closed on these dates. 

Parent Conferences— for those that registered for a conference, these will be on October 5th from 3:30pm-5:30pm. Teachers will reach back out to each parent with a time and method to dial in for the conference. If you did not register for a conference on 10/5 these sessions are now full and you can arrange tp have a conference at another day/time. 

Social Media- there is new information shared about another trend/TikTok challenge that some students are again planning at schools this month. Please keep talking with your children about good decision-making and also share these DCSD social media guidelines: https://www.dekalbschoolsga.org/social-media-guidelines/   I’m hopeful that our Tucker HS students will remain focused on their schoolwork and not engage in such behavior.

Please note the following information for this week:

  • 11th Grade Parent Night- Virtual: September 21@6:00PM, the link will be on the THS school website. 
  • Checking Grades and Attendance- please continue to check your student’s grades and attendance regularly. If you have difficulty accessing the Parent Portal in Infinite Campus please email Ms. Humphrey in the Parent Center at: lisa_humphrey@dekalbschoolsga.org
  • Tutorials/Credit Recovery- Sign up on the link provided if your child has failed a class and would like to attend grade recovery at the end of September through Thanksgiving.   • Homecoming Court Applications- are due tomorrow for any students interested 
  • Student Restroom Use- As indicated on the national news recently, there is a social media trend that unfortunately includes students vandalizing and stealing from school restrooms. We are closely monitoring this and reiterating the high behavioral expectations we have for our Tucker HS students. Anyone found participating or found in violation of this will have school consequences per the DCSD Code of Conduct and face possible criminal charges. Please share this with your children to ensure they continue to make good decisions.

  • EduLog-  The DeKalb County School District announced today the launch of the Edulog Parent Portal smartphone app. The app is designed to give parents and guardians information about their child’s school bus ride. The app allows parents and guardians to follow their child’s bus on a real-time map and stay up-to-date with notifications when that bus nears the bus stop, the school, or a custom alert zone.   • Student Parking- Any student parking a vehicle on the Tucker High School campus must have purchased a valid parking permit for this school year. Beginning Monday (9/20) there will be a penalty for any vehicle on campus parking illegally. 
  • Student Homecoming Court Applications- please see information here 
  • Chromebooks- Tucker High School’s Formal Chromebook Deployment ended Friday, September 10, 2021, at 3;20 p.m.  We are still accepting On-line Device Request Forms. If your student is in need of a Chromebook, please complete the On-line Device Request Form.  Please e-mail Dr. Allen approximately three (3) to four (4) days after completing the On-line Device Request Form to check to see if your student’s name appears on the form and to request an appointment for your student to obtain their Chromebook. This note is to address the hacking incident and inappropriate images that appeared during tonight's presentation. Our District IT personnel was notified in addition to our Public Safety Department which are all investigating the incident to determine those responsible. I apologize for the interruption and discomfort this caused and please know this is not reflective of who we are as a school community. Thank you as always for your patience and support as we work through this incident and please let me know of any additional questions or concerns.

Tucker HS Parents,

Please note the following updates and reminders for this week:

  • Reminder--No school/classes tomorrow, Monday (9/6) for Labor Day 
  • Health & Safety
    • Please continue to let us know at school if you or your child is sick, is or will be absent, and/or has received a test result.  Please also continue to check the county website at https://www.dekalbschoolsga.org/covid-19-health-and-safety/ for updates 
    • Please also know that students cannot leave campus once they arrive until dismissal a 3:20pm. A parent must otherwise check a student out of school through the main office during the school day, any student attempting to leave campus will result in disciplinary action. 
  • Grading- please check the Parent Portal in Infinite Campus for your child’s 4.5 week grades that are posted.  
  • Chromebooks- Phase IV of the Student Chromebook Deployment will begin Wednesday, September 8, 2021, through Friday, September 10, 2021. Students will receive their Chromebook according to their grade level and the block/period that has been assigned to that grade level. 

Be mindful that a student will not be able to receive a Chromebook if: 

  • They have not returned the Chromebook that was previously assigned to them. 
  • Their name does not appear on the Online Parent/Student Agreement List. 
  • They owe technology fee(s) from Tucker High School or any other previous schools where they have been enrolled.   

If your student needs a Chromebooks, please go to the below link, and complete the Device Request Form.  The Device Request Form must be completed and submitted two (2) days prior to the Chromebook Deployment Process.

Greetings Tucker HS Parents, 

Please see the following updates and reminders for this week:

  • Please continue to be on the lookout for email notifications on positive cases and close contacts. Information will continue to be sent out as situations arise. Please also keep your students home if feeling ill and keep us at the school updated on their condition.
  • Yearbook pictures are this Wednesday, September 1st for 9th-11th grade students, Senior portraits- please schedule here  https://store.cady.com
  • Tardy Students- class begins at 8:00am and students are also given five minutes between classes to arrive to each class before being marked tardy. Notifications will continue to be provided tot parents for students with multiple tardies to class and students will also begin to receive consequences for multiple tardies.  Please call the school with any attendance questions or concerns. 
  • Dress Code- parents will be notified in the morning to either provide clothes or pick up students from school if they are improperly dressed. Students cannot wear flip-flops, spandex, shirts or tank tops with mid-riff exposed, and/or jeans with holes above the knee or with skin exposed.   • Earlier communication was sent out as part of our protocol to inform you of a positive case on campus. We also send an additional notification and guidance to parents of students who were in close contact to a positive case while at school. If your child is not feeling well or displaying any symptoms of illness, please keep them at home from school.   • Tardies- We will begin marking students as tardy this week, including those that arrive to school after 8:00am. Please support us to ensure you child is in all of their classes on time.
  • Student Chromebook Deployment will begin Wednesday, August 18, 2021, through Friday, August 20, 2021. Students will receive their Chromebook according to their grade level and the block/period that has been assigned to that grade level.  Please be mindful that a student will not be able to receive a Chromebook if: 
    • They have not returned the Chromebook that was previously assigned to them.

Greetings Tucker HS Parents,

Thank you for a great first week of school last week. Please note the following as we prepare to begin our second week:

  • If your child is not feeling well or displaying any symptoms of illness, please keep them at home from school. Please continue to notify us at school so we can also take the proper precautions if your child is ill or tests positive.
  • Water bottles—Students are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle each day to use and keep with them as hallway water fountains are no longer available. 
  • Visitor Policy- Out of an abundance of caution and due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, we will continue the visitor protocol that was in place for the 2020-2021 school year. Visitors and volunteers will not be permitted in buildings until further notice. 
  • Student Chromebooks-- We are expecting student Chromebooks to become available very soon.   Any student that desires a Chromebook may go ahead and complete the Student Device Request Form to reserve a Chromebook if you have not already reserved a Chromebook. When the Chromebooks become available, the parents and students will be informed when the Chromebook deployment will take place at Tucker High School.   • Safety drills this week—please know that schools are required to have safety and evacuation drills conducted in the beginning of the school year. 
  • No outside food is permitted during lunch- please do not drop outside/fast food off to students during lunch. Students can be checked out if you wish to eat with you student or provide them lunch. Our policy is that only the school-served cafeteria lunch is allowed and available during 
  • School begins at 8:00am each day- Students should not be dropped off at school before 7:30am and should not stay after school or be on campus after 3:45pm if not participating in an extracurricular activity.

Tucker HS Parents, 

Tomorrow, Monday (8/2/21), is our first day of school for the 2021-22 School Year. Please note the following as we prepare to welcome your students back into the school building:

  • First Day of School- Please report to your Homeroom class on Monday at 8:00AM. You can find your homeroom located on your schedule in infinite campus or on the purple signs located around the school. If your student doesn’t have or see their schedule, they are not enrolled. Please call the school and counseling before arriving to school tomorrow. 
  • DCSD Visitor/Volunteer Policy- Out of an abundance of caution and due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, we will continue the visitor protocol that was in place for the 2020-2021 school year. Visitors and volunteers will not be permitted in buildings until further notice.  We will continue to monitor conditions and data provided by the Department of Public Health(DPH), the DeKalb County Board of Health (DBOH) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).  It is our sincere hope that conditions will improve, and we will be able to reopen our doors and benefit from the value that our committed volunteers add to our schools and centers.  
    We appreciate each of our volunteers and community partners.  In the interim, we will look for and we invite you to help us identify opportunities for volunteers to support our school community virtually.
  • Virtual FLEX students- Parents if you have decided to attend FLEX virtually, please send the Student/Parent agreement back to denisha_rodgers@dekalbschoolsga.org immediately so the counselors can process the paperwork. 
  • Class Schedules- If you were not able to attend open house for your schedule, please look in your infinite campus account for your schedule. Once you attend Homeroom on Monday, a printed copy will be given to you. 
  • Schedule Changes- The counselors are working on schedule changes. If the schedule change is granted, a new schedule will be sent out. Please follow your schedule until a new one is provided.
  • Bus Routes/Times- please see this information here 
  • Dual Enrollment Students- Please send your schedule and THS paperwork to Ms Redmond at margaret_redmond@dekalbschoolsga.org. If you have not submitted your dual schedule, you must attend THS next week and follow your current schedule until your counselor changes your schedule. 
  • Chromebooks- Student Chromebooks are not available at this time however any student that desires a Chromebook may go ahead and complete the Student Device Request to reserve one. When the Chromebooks do arrive, the parents and students will be informed when the Chromebook Deployment will take place at Tucker High School.
